Just For Today

  • For today, I’ll keep it simple. I won’t overwhelm myself by trying to solve all my life’s problems at once. I’ll focus on the next twelve hours, tackling what’s in front of me without the weight of a lifetime on my shoulders.
  • Today, I choose happiness. Abraham Lincoln’s wisdom rings true: our happiness often depends on our mindset. So, for these next hours, I’ll decide to be happy, finding joy in the little things.
  • I’ll work on strengthening my mind. No mental loafing today. I’ll read something that challenges me, requires thought and concentration. Just for today, I’ll embrace what is instead of trying to force everything to fit my desires.
  • In nurturing my soul, I’ll do a good deed without seeking recognition. I’ll challenge myself with two things I might usually avoid, just for the exercise. If my feelings get hurt, I won’t show it today.
  • Today, I’ll be agreeable. I’ll present myself well, speak softly, act courteously, and resist the urge to criticize or find fault. My focus will be on self-improvement, not trying to regulate others.
  • I’ll have a program for the day, not rigid but a guide. I’ll save myself from the pests of hurry and indecision.
  • For a quiet half hour, I’ll be alone, finding a moment to relax and gain a better perspective on my life.
  • Lastly, I’ll be unafraid. I won’t shy away from beauty, and I’ll believe that as I contribute positively to the world, the world will reciprocate. Just for today, I’ll live in the moment, appreciating the beauty around me.
